Perhaps at some point in our lives, we have noticed a message we sent via Messenger, but we cannot find it in the chat with the other user, and most likely, we assume the message is lost.

So if after checking the inbox again you don’t find those texts, pay attention to these steps that will help you visualize the messages you want.

How to find my archived chats on Facebook

First, we need to open the Facebook application from the mobile app or from the laptop, although it is better to do this step-by-step from the laptop for much more convenience.

Once we are on the Facebook profile, then we will see in the upper right corner of the screen of our device, the profile picture of our Facebook account. But 2 circles to the right, we will see the Messenger icon and click on it.
Automatically, a tab will open with all the recent chats we have, but if we look closely at the top of that tab, we will see three dots and we will select them to see the Chat Settings.

We will scroll down a bit and we will see the option of Archived Chats, and it is necessary to read each and every one of the chats to first find the person to whom we sent said message and secondly, the objective which is the same message.

How to find a message in Messenger

Firstly, it’s important to clarify that this is an option that may work in some cases and not in others, all depending on a key factor known as backups on Facebook.
Therefore, to begin this procedure, we need to navigate to our Facebook profile, next, we’ll click on our profile picture located in the top right corner, then select Settings & Privacy, and then click on Settings.

Next, we’ll click on Your Facebook Information on the left side of the screen, then we’ll see various options under Your Facebook Information, but we’ll click on Download Your Information.
To proceed, we’ll click on Download Your Information and a pop-up window will appear giving us the option to download Your Current Data or Scheduled. Then, we’ll see various options of where we want information from, regardless of whether it’s our Facebook or Instagram account.

After that, we’ll need to select how much information we want to download between Available Information, like data and any other features of the accounts, and Specific Information Types, such as images or messages.
Next, we’ll see the various data we want to download. However, we should ensure that the option for messages is selected, as this is what truly matters to us.

Finally, we’re going to choose where we want our files to be downloaded, but it’s more advisable to click on Transfer to destination, then we’ll choose between Dropbox and Google Drive. And to finish, we’ll have to select Download and in a certain amount of time, we’ll see the data on our device or Google Drive.
