Just like all social networks, TikTok requires a stable internet connection to update its feed limitlessly. However, this app has a hidden trick that few users know about, allowing you to watch videos even when you’re in offline mode.
So, to save more time, here’s what you need to do to enjoy extra content when you don’t have a mobile data or WiFi connection
Step-by-step to watch videos offline on TikTok
To access this, we’ll need to follow these steps. First, we’ll need to open the TikTok app on the mobile device, then proceed to go to the profile section located at the bottom right of the smartphone screen. Next, we’ll see on our TikTok profile an icon of three horizontal lines located at the top right of the screen, and we’ll tap on it. Then, we’ll have various options in view, but we’re going to select the one named “Settings and privacy.”
Automatically, all the settings and privacy options will appear, but we’ll need to scroll down to find the “Cache and mobile data” section, then we’ll see an option that says “Videos offline” in the first place.
After tapping on “Videos offline,” we’ll see three options, including “Download only with Wi-Fi,” and it’s recommended to activate it to save mobile data for any emergency. Then, we’ll see the option that interests us the most, which is “Videos offline.”
At this point, we select “Videos offline,” and we’ll have the possibility to download between 50, 100, 150, and 200 clips to watch completely offline. Although the first option consumes approximately 27 MB of storage, the second uses 70 MB, the third option takes a bit more at 100 MB, and finally, the option that uses the most storage is the last one at 150 MB.
Once we choose the option that best suits our mobile storage, we’ll press “Paused download” to start the download. However, if we want to know how much storage the downloaded videos are taking up, we’ll have a third option at the bottom called “Downloads,” and right next to it, we’ll see the storage used by the clips.
On the other hand, this tool is more useful than we think thanks to its variety to have at hand a quantity of publications that will surely help us clear our minds a bit. Note that, because they are downloaded videos, we won’t have the possibility to like, comment, or download the video to our mobile gallery.
